Yesterday we found out one of our neighbors was a painter, so we asked him to paint a few things around the house. He said, sure, how about tomorrow morning! So, he spent several hours this morning painting. Here is the before picture.
Here is an after picture. You get 10 points if you can tell what is different!
If you guessed the color of the columns, you would be right. Ed has long wanted to paint them to match the window trim, and the fence above the front door. It accents them a little nicer than the brown trim color.
Felipe also painted a few walls in the family room and the kitchen. I'd been meaning to paint them gold to match the kitchen, but never got around to it. While Felipe painted, I cleaned 5 bathrooms and vacuumed. Ed trimmed around the yard. We're all ready for our company that will be arriving Monday!

Ten Years on the Job!
Ed celebrated 10 years at NG last month! Seven years in Boulder and almost three years in Baltimore. They gave him a commemorative lapel pin and a choice of gifts. He chose this nice tool box. It comes in a little case with rolling wheels. just like airport luggage. What will they think of next?

Caught the Cat!
Amanda rescued Simon (Miss Carol's cat) from the groundhog trap yesterday. I guess curiosity got the better of him! Miss Carol said she was surprised he went for the lettuce she had inside it! We thought it was funny when we walked by the shed and heard the plaintive meowing coming our way. You never saw a cat so happy to see a human before! We were Simon's good friends for at least 2 minutes after that!

Hooficure
The horses got their nails trimmed this morning. The ladies seemed to like it, but Mr. Genes got a little restless. Maybe he thinks it's sissy, getting a hooficure. Andy hit Mr. Genes on the nose when he got feisty with me. I don't know if I could or should do that to a horse. I'm pretty inexperienced, and the horses know that. This morning, I was able to put all the halters on by myself, though. That was something!
You Won't Believe What I Found at WalMart
So, we stopped by to pick up a few things at Walmart last night, and lo and behold, we found an Auntie Anne's Pretzel store! I couldn't believe it! And me on a diet! They had carved out a little section of the Subway to squeeze it in! I love their almond pretzels with caramel dipping sauce! I did not indulge last night, but I'm thinking about sneaking over there after I weigh in on Friday! This Walmart shopper is very happy with the new addition!

Farm Labor
Everyone's working hard at the farm, even the spiders. Every morning before we let the horses into the barn we check the gates for spider webs. We are never disappointed. This one was a particularly nice one. Someone was up all night spinning away! That spider was lucky I didn't destroy his handiwork. Since it was only on the fence but not the gate, I decided to spare it!
That Happy Time of Year
It's football season again! And, since we now live in Baltimore, we're Ravens fans! We watched the Ravens' first game of the season on Monday night TV yesterday. They beat the Cincinnati Bengals soundly with a score of 44-13! What a great start to the season. Coda, our newest little Ravens fan, cheered every tackle and touchdown! She especially loved getting to wear her special team jersey!
