Norton Bush Birthday Dinner

Chuck has his birthday one day before mine (the 24th and 25th of December). It has been fun to renew our tradition of celebrating our birthdays together. We started doing it in 1982, when we were young and beautiful. It is nice to renew our tradition now that we're seasoned and "elderly!" These are also wonderful times of our lives!

Juniper Jam Band at Spring Gardens

Our slow jam performed at Spring Gardens on Saturday, for our first performance. We were pleased to see our name in lights! They had a really nice room for performances!

We were short a few members, but had a great time with Ed, Ken, Hazel, Debbie and Judy!

I am enjoying looking at the videos Heinz recorded for us. It was pretty good for our first gig, and there is also plenty of room for improvement! The fun has been in practicing together and becoming friends!

We finished up our set with a rousing "Santa's Workshop" sung by Ed!

We also invited Brittany and John to do two songs with us. Here is the Pinyon Rats doing "Go Tell it on the Mountain!.

For those of you who are dying to see ALL the videos, (Ken), I uploaded them to my whistling prairie youtube site! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO6KYprY32a7vz4bOR9RGgg?

Did I mention Mabel was there, too? She sang Jingle Bells into the mic afterwards! There is hope for the next generation!

Victorian Christmas

Provo Pioneer Village had a Victorian Christmas Monday night, complete with Father Christmas. Mabel was okay with him (maybe she knew about the candy canes), but Clementine was having none of that!

We warmed up with hot chocolate and cookies sitting inside the blacksmith shop.

We enjoyed singing some Christmas carols and dancing the Virginia Reel! It was a low key, but lovely evening!

Tree of Life with Mom

Saturday we went with my mother to see the much ballyhooed "Tree of Life" in Draper City Park. It didn't disappoint! That are a lot of lights on one tree!

We also went out to eat at R&R BBQ in Lehi, which is a real treat. Mom claimed she had enough leftovers for 4 meals. Ed and I only got 2 dinners out of ours!

We also decided to check out Christmas Street in Salt Lake. It had a very nice sign on it, but was not quite as extravagant as we were expecting, considering all the press it has had!

It snowed just enough to feel festive, but not enough to make driving dangerous. The best part was a long car ride with mom, visiting and exploring the Salt Lake Valley together!

Work Party with Brittany

Brittany invited me to go to her work Christmas party on Friday, as John had to work. It was fun eating a great meal beneath a giant elephant in the Monte L. Bean Museum!

It was also fun previewing their new exhibit with the giant snake! It made you glad snakes that large are extinct nowadays!

Ed stayed home with Mabel and Clementine. Mabel had fun trying on Christmas costumes. Here she is a shepherd donkey!

Clementine had fun crawling all around the house and playing with toys!

The girls both had fun checking out our Christmas decorations! Only one more week to go!

Visiting Teaching Luncheon

My new visiting teaching partner, Michelle, hosted a visiting teaching luncheon with me today. We invited our visiting teachers as well as teachees. Not everyone could come, but it was fun having time to visit together with a very interesting bunch of ladies! I, for one and happy to have visiting teacher and to visit teach! It is a great way to expand our circle of friends!

Heber Valley Polar Express

We had an exciting time on the Polar Express in Heber City last night. Mabel and Clementine were the excuse to ride the train, but Brittany, John, Ellis and Marti, as well as Ed and I had just as much fun as the kids!

It was quite cozy, and we took four seats for the eight of us! We got to take turns holding Mabel and Clementine!

It was way past their bedtime, but they were real troopers, staying awake till 10 p.m.!

The cookies and hot chocolate were delicious! I got an extra one because of my December birthday!

Santa came aboard and talked to each child and gave us all a really nice bell!

The main event was the dancing! We got that train shaking during Feliz Navidad! The elf helpers said it was their best car ever! We had read a review where someone said there was a lot of down time on the 90 minute trip! They were not riding in the Bush/Nuttall car! It was non-stop fun all the way to the North Pole and back!
