Alpine Days Luau and Storytelling

We had two luaus in one day yesterday! The Alpine Days celebration is all week, and they kicked it off with a great luau (as well as food trucks) in Creekside Park. The amazing hula dancers represented many countries in the South Pacific, but everything went to a higher level when they brought out the fire twirler!
We enjoyed the festivities and the food. Ed even gave me a very large bite of his Huli Boys shave ice!

To finish off a really great evening, Marvin Payne and his Celtic band, Pennyland, sang and played. There was also some great storytelling by both Marvin and his son Sam, who hosts a radio storytelling program called The Apple Seed. His stories about growing up in Alpine had us in stitches!
