Driving Lessons, blinds and Platelets

Mabel and Clementine came over Tuesday for some driving lessons in our new dune buggy. It turns out there are few things you need to know, like "look in front of you when you're driving!"

Mabel made good progress and was starting to get some confidence with the pedal and steering at the same time.

Clementine, who technically isn't in the age range for the car (3-7), needed a little more guidance and took the car into the bushes a few times!

They stayed over night and we woke up to a pouring rain on Wednesday! That was just as much fun as driving the car, apparently.

Brittany and John made a delicious pho (Vietnamese soup) lunch for us, which was very cozy on a cold, rainy day.

Ed spent the last two days installing new blinds in our family room. There were some cellular shades that were 20 years old, which we decided to replace.

We ordered some sheer shades from Blinds Galore. They are all fabric and can open and close like wood slats. Best of all, they are remote control operated and have solar panels to keep them charged. Now, when we have a glare on the TV we can just push a button and the blinds come down! It is great never having to move out of our chairs!

We had labs yesterday. I started a new medicine (promacta) to help my platelets go up. They are now at 17! I'm also taking medicine (letermovir) against CMV and so far the CMV is not detected. If I can go a few weeks with no CMV, and the platelets rise, then I might start a new treatment that is less toxic than the previous one.
