Steamboat Springs Literary Sojourn 2019

Saturday was the big event where we all got dressed up to go to our annual Festival of Authors.

As the event didn't start till 1 pm, a few of us went for a walk in the morning along the Yampa river.

We found a lot of flowers common to Alpine, and I was able to identify them! This red dogwood was easy to spot with its pretty white berries. Suzanne verified it with her "Picture This" app.

We also stopped in at the beautiful Yampa River Botanic Park. They had so much in bloom!

The black-eyed Susans reminded Suzanne and me of Maryland.

I felt triumphant standing by this statue. It was such a miracle to feel good and be able to be there in Steamboat again! When we bought the tickets in July I thought there would be very little chance I would be well enough in September to attend!

We enjoyed the authors and the tea break at halftime. This year we felt the books were not quite as enjoyable as last year, but we thought the emcee, Andrew Sean Greer, was very entertaining.

We finished up the evening with a quiche dinner brought to us by Suzanne. It was the perfect way to wind up a wonderful weekend!
