History Lesson with Sheldon

Ed and I went up American Fork Canyon with Alpine's Mayor, Sheldon Wimmer yesterday to learn a little more about the history of the area we live in.

His career with the Forest Service and the BLM made him uniquely qualified to fill us with stories about the area he grew up in! I took a tape recorder to remember them all!

Although the leaves have fallen, there was plenty to still see in the mountains, including this mossy stream bed.

We enjoyed seeing the other side of Box Elder Peak, the mountain that towers above our home in Alpine. We're now motivated to get out hiking and get to know the mountains better!
