Jambalaya--The Song and the Food

We learned the song Jambalaya this morning at band practice. Thanks to Youtube we were able to sing along with Hank Williams, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Karen Carpenter and Emmylou Harris. They were all different, but all fun. Because I have been having so much fun learning to play it on the mandolin, I thought we'd celebrate by having it for lunch after band. I made Chicken and Sausage (Italian) Jambalaya. The rice was a little overcooked, but it didn't matter, as we topped it off with homemade New York Style Cheesecake. It was guaranteed to leave a good taste in your mouth!

We missed Carrie (in South Carolina) and Cindy (in outer space?). If they can come to practice next week I might be able to save some leftovers for them!

A big thanks to my sister Joan for suggesting this song. We LOVED the fact that it only had two chords!

  1. Who knew that Hank Williams, CCR, Karen Carpenter and Emmylou Harris all recorded Jumbalaya. I have the Hank Williams version on tape.
I learned how to pivot Excel spreadsheets using UTube.

  2. I like it that all the chord changes happen on the "O's" like
    My-o
    Bay-o
    and my personal favorite
    Gay-o
