Alpine Cove Book Club Reviews the Orphan Keeper

The Alpine Cove Book Club read the Orphan Keeper by Camron Wright. It is about a little boy kidnapped in India, sold to an orphanage and raised in Utah.

While we thought there were weaknesses in the telling of the story, we thought the story itself was very compelling!

We enjoyed reading about how the true story differed from the fictional version, and wondered why the author chose to leave out his LDS connection. We really enjoyed Debby's pictures of India, where she lived for 4 years!

We tried to eat at the Bombay House, as it featured in the story, but it wasn't open for lunch, so we had a delicious buffet at the India Palace in Provo.

In May we're going to read Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal.  More about orphans! Join us if you can!
