Trip to Steamboat Springs

On Friday I met Renee in American Fork, where we started our grand adventure to Steamboat Springs. This is my 16th year of going to the Festival of Authors there, and I was so happy not to miss it!

It was Renee's second year and we continued with our tradition of stopping at a rest site outside Vernal for lunch. The weather was perfect for it!

We met up with Kay, Kae, Nora, Suzanne and Susan at our AirBnB in the afternoon. This was a new place a little further from the ski lifts, but it accommodated all 7 of us!

We ate at 609 Yampa again, as we all loved the location on the river and wanted the Pad Thai we had last year. This year they had a new menu that didn't include Pad Thai. We were bummed!

Most of us ordered the chicken pot pie, which had a nice flaky crust, but a bland filling. It took the chef two tries to get it right. The first time they brought it out it was white and tepid. This was the lovely second attempt.

The restaurant staff was super nice about everything and comped us some very tasty appetizers while we waited for the second batch of pies. Despite their friendliness, we are decided to try a different restaurant next year!
