Proud to Be an American

We enjoyed going to the Rapids soccer game with the Hartmanns on the Fourth of July. The company was great and the day was beautiful. We were looking forward to a nice, sentimental tribute to America after the game. We had great seats for the fireworks display, which lasted about 10 minutes--all of which were very painful. The sound system was playing The Stars and Stripes Forever at the same time as I'm Proud to be an American. It was a relief when they stopped the show and the music. After about 45 minutes they admitted they couldn't get the show started again, and invited us to return free of charge in 3 weeks. We'll be in Germany by then. Oh, well. Next year we're going to watch the fireworks in Broomfield. It will be a Sunday, anyway.
