Harper's Ferry

We went to West Virginia yesterday to see the site of John Brown's famous raid on the armory at Harper's Ferry. It no longer has a ferry, but it's a quaint little town with some historic buildings run by the Park Service. Brittany and Amanda still appear fresh in front of St. Peter's church. The climb up to the church and the walk to the river melted us all a bit. Amanda is wearing glasses now in preparation for Lasik surgery. She has to wear glass for a few months to let her eyes go back to their natural shape after the hard contacts.

Ed is standing on a bridge over the Potomoc. In the background you can see where the Shenedoah river flows into the Potomoc. There is a Blue Ridge Mountain on the far side of the river. It was almost heaven...

  1. Almost heaven, west virginia
    Blue ridge mountains, shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze
