Little Cottonwood Canyon

We thought we'd spread our wings a little and hike in a new place today, so we went up to Little Cottonwood Canyon, where the granite for the Salt Lake Temple was quarried.

It was nice that Brittany and the girls were able to join us! Here we are in the shade! There wasn't a lot of it at the beginning of the hike, and with the temperature in the 80's we were happy when we had trees on both sides!

We stopped for lunch along Little Cottonwood Creek. Mmm. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

Then we spent a long time watching Mabel play beside the water. She finds such joy in the simple things!

Clementine also found some joy. She likes hiking and sitting around, but she does NOT like riding in the car!

Grandpa kept Mabel supplied with rocks to throw into the water. Most of them landed in the shallow water right in front of her!

I got to sit in the back seat of the car between Mabel and Clementine. We had fun singing songs. Mabel requests her favorite songs by name now, two of which are "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and "The ABC Song!" They are two of my favorites, too!
